What is CoderDojo?
CoderDojo is a global movement about providing free and open learning to youth, with an emphasis on computer programming. The Strabane chapter was founded to bring this movement to Strabane and the surrounding area, inspire other chapters, and partner with other organizations to better introduce kids to coding.
CoderDojo Strabane welcomes all interested kids ages 8 to 16 and will work pro-actively to eliminate gender and socio economic barriers to computer science by providing a no-cost way for young people to experience programming early—and have fun doing it!
Next Session - Saturday 22nd April
The next session will be held in Strabane library on Saturday 22nd April from 10am to 12 noon. The FREE tickets will be released on Sunday 9th Mar at 12 noon.
The global network of free computer programming clubs for young people.
Technologies that we use
Start coding the easy way with Scratch
Scratch is a fun, easy-to-use language that you can use to make games and animations. It’s a great way for new coders to learn many techniques of programming as they modify a huge variety of online games or create their own. Scratch is a visual language; instead of typing in syntax, you drag and link together icons that let you build images, move them around in various ways and respond to user input.
Build worlds in Minecraft with Python
Use Python, a general purpose programming language, to mod the popular Minecraft game. Best for coders 10+ or younger with some experience in programming (like Scratch!)
Websites, apps, and games with HTML5
Our events take place in the Civic conference room upstairs . Please look for signage as you enter the building or ask a member of the library staff for directions.
